WOw, Alisa, those are a ton of accomplishments! you can check so many major things off of that list! It is fun to read about all of your love-fest planning on this here tumblr. It is fun to be connected to these celebrations and it is also fun to think about planning these large love events and knowing how fun and challenging it can be to work on all of those decisions.
I was just watching a TED talk about mushrooms and then one about decreasing health care costs through new forms of medical supplies. In the second talk the speaker suggests using photo text on cell phones to photograph tests, then texting those photos to a lab who diagnoses the test and texts back the lab results.
Interesting.
Then I started thinking about our cell phones and they are becoming so much! My cell phone is e mail, a music listening device, a camera, an alarm clock, internet access, my picture book, tv, not to mention a phone. What is this doing to brains I wonder. I just wonder how this is changing and will change society as it becomes more and more true.
My eye got worse again this week. I was trying to think about the waves that have happened during this eye issue. When did it start? What changed in my life when it started? What have I changed in my life as a result? Which of those changes have seemed to make an impact on my eye? How have those changes impacted the rest of my life, etc.
So I know that I got the first stye around Halloween 2008. So I am thinking about that time. Then I realize that I got the iphone in 10.08. Then I am thinking about how that could or could not have made an impact. I read on the internet that when you look at the computer or a TV you get less blinks/minute which means drier eyes which means less pore flushing which means higher likelihood of a stye. When i read that I thought, well I don’t watch TV and I am not on the internet that much compared to many. Now I realize that I look at my phone SO MUCH. I don’t know if the phone is really making an impact on my eye condition but it’s interesting to think of the small ways that new technologies change our bodies and then then large ways that they change our society. I told Dr. Miao (Prof at Nicole’s school and also one of my doctors) about this cell phone idea. She said, “maybe, try to put this away”. She is the cutest, cutest. You guys must meet this woman. Everybody should have appointments during 10.10.10
On another related note, Nicole is an amazing acupuncturist. Last week I missed my appt at school so I jsut went to her appartment. I laid down on her massage table and she stuck me all over my liver channel and on this heart point. It was fun to have her tell me what she was doing. I felt on drugs within three needles. I was totally zonked out and slurring my speech. Then I slept for I don’t know how long. Then she took the neeldes out and my eye bump was sa totally different color and my headache was gone. Look, my typing is getting sloppy I am so excited!
LASTLY, I got to talk to Shira on the phone tonight! It was AMAZING!!!! So awesome!
Much love! and did you know that Milana is currently at TED in Palm Springs. Funny!
Today is Phoebe’s 30th Birthday
